Community Impact

Preserving Heritage. Building Community. Inspiring Through the Arts.

For more than a decade, I have been committed to preserving and sharing the richness of Indian classical arts through education, performance, and community engagement. My work extends far beyond the stage, using Kathak as a powerful tool for cultural exchange, artistic excellence, and lifelong learning.

From classrooms and university campuses to libraries, community centers, festivals, and performing arts venues, I strive to make Indian classical dance accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. Every workshop, residency, lecture-demonstration, and performance is an opportunity to foster curiosity, celebrate diversity, and build meaningful connections through the arts.

Arts Education & Community Engagement

Throughout my career, I have collaborated with universities, schools, libraries, arts organizations, festivals, and nonprofit organizations to deliver educational programming that bridges cultures and inspires audiences.

Recent and ongoing community engagement includes:

  • Two-day artist residency and movement workshop with Lawrence University.

  • Masterclass for high school dancers presented in partnership with the Wisconsin Dance Council.

  • Featured panelist at the Dane Arts Business of Art Conference, contributing to discussions on The Government, Arts, and Community.

  • Culture Chair for IndUS of Fox Valley, helping expand cultural programming and community engagement.

  • Director of State Affiliates for the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO), advancing dance education and professional collaboration.

  • Educational workshops for schools, libraries, universities, arts organizations, and community groups throughout Wisconsin and beyond.

  • Community performances and participatory workshops through Make Music Day, Miles of Music, Celebrate Diversity Fox Cities, Rhythms of the World, and numerous multicultural festivals.

  • Collaborative performances with Mandala South Asian Performing Arts, including Śiva Bhāva: Love, Care and the Cosmos, presented at the Ruth Page Center for the Arts in Chicago as part of Mandala's season.

Building Cultural Connections

My mission is to create opportunities where people can experience Indian classical arts not simply as performances, but as living traditions that encourage dialogue, creativity, and understanding. Whether working with young students, university scholars, professional artists, or first-time audiences, I believe the performing arts have the power to connect communities across cultures.

Looking Forward

As this work continues to grow, my vision is to expand educational outreach, artist residencies, school partnerships, community collaborations, and cultural programming that preserves Indian artistic traditions while making them accessible to future generations.

Every student taught, every workshop presented, every collaboration formed, and every performance shared represents another step toward building stronger communities through the arts.
