About Anindita Anaam

Anindita Anaam

I am Anindita Neogy Anaam, a Kathak soloist, choreographer, and educator rooted in the classical traditions of Jaipur and Lucknow gharanas — and committed to making Indian classical dance a living, global art form. Trained under legendary gurus Pandit Rajendra Gangani and Pandit Jai Kishan Maharaj, I have dedicated my life to preserving the depth of Kathak while expanding its relevance across cultures, generations, and geographies.

As the Founder of SARGAM Kathak Dance Classes in Wisconsin (USA), I teach students of all ages and backgrounds, creating a space where rhythm becomes language and storytelling transcends borders. My work ranges from performing on some of the world’s most respected stages — including Alvin Ailey Theater, Rubin Museum of Art, and Navy Pier — to leading workshops in public schools, libraries, and universities across the United States.

I currently serve as the Executive Director of the Wisconsin Dance Council and the Director of State Affiliates for the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) — the first Indian classical dancer to hold this position. My goal is not only to perform, but to advocate: for inclusion, for cultural representation, and for the next generation of artists.

Whether I’m performing, teaching, or speaking, I carry forward a tradition that is centuries old — and still evolving. I invite you to explore my journey, join a class, or collaborate in spreading the beauty of Kathak to the world.
